Supervision

The post-observation conference is an opportunity for the consulting teacher and the intern or intervention teacher to analyze and discuss data collected during the observation. It is an opportunity for the teacher to receive feedback about his or her teaching performance and student responses. At this point, the teacher should receive access to systematic data collected during the observation. The teacher must be able to study and interpret the data collection sheets, and if necessary, the consulting teacher should describe the data to the teacher. The congruencies and discrepancies that may exist between what the teacher planned and what was recorded during the observation should be discussed. The result of this conference is to develop a plan for changing the aspects of the lesson that were not effective while maintaining the strategies that resulted in the desired outcome.
